This short movie is a compilation of time lapse animations recorded during a 2014 prescribed fire at the world famous Wade Tract in south Georgia.  This was a short side project that I worked on through my position with the Southern Fire Exchange. The goal of the movie was to develop a way to show prescribed fire as “eye candy” while offering a tool for instructors to discuss ignition techniques and fire behavior in frequently burned longleaf pine fuels.  If you click to “Watch it on YouTube” you’ll have the option of viewing the movie in 1080p HD resolution.  The animations were recorded using two different GoPro cameras. You may notice that one of the cameras was attached to a custom time lapse panning device that slowly and smoothly rotated the camera during image capture.
